•   Schools, families and community are actively engaged in the district’s mission.

•   Schools are safe and caring places where all are valued.

Board Goals 2025 - 2026

Board Goal #1 – Prioritize academic, social emotional support within our District.

Board Goal #2 – Continue the Board of Education’s proactive, collaborative, and on-going commitment to equity.

The Board of Education collaborate with the administration to monitor and assess the long-term equity plan.
To continue to build our collective capacity, each Board of Education member shall participate in an equity education opportunity during the 2025-26 school year.
Using our meeting exit slip, the Board of Education will self-evaluate our practice of using an equity lens prior to making significant educational decisions.

Board Goal #3 – Deploy a long term district focus while continuing to address short term needs.

Board Goal #4 – Focus on public education advocacy as it relates to our IPSD community, local, state, and federal governments.

Through the public education advocacy update agenda topic, the Board of Education will discuss pertinent advocacy items at each meeting.
All board members are encouraged to engage in the advocacy process per board norms. The Board of Education may develop position statements to effectively lobby local, state and federal government organizations and governments in order to best serve our students and school community.
To engage with District stakeholders, the Board will continue to participate in administration led committees

Board Goal #5 – Be an efficient and effective Governing Board.

Using a brief self-evaluative exit slip with a 4 point ranking, the Board of Education will achieve an average score of 3 or higher at each board meeting.
Members of the Board of Education will maintain or work toward Illinois Association of School Boards’ (IASB) “Board Leader Recognition” distinction through attendance at state conference, participation in IASB workshops, and participation in a yearly self-evaluation.
When available, the Board of Education will complete the Board Development plan as outlined by the IASB to achieve School Governance Award Recognition.
